Happy New Year Everyone!
Well back to 2011. At the start of April we picked up our new car, its lovely. As its a model that hasn't been out long they put a few extra's on it for us free too. We have a gadget that the car does a parallel park all by itself, not that we've tried it out yet, that's quite a leap of faith to take! lol Its quite orange in colour, we let CC choose and orange is her favourite colour, I wasn't sure at first but its grown on me and at least it stands out in a carpark! Hubbs was very pleased with his new toy and insisted on driving the long way to everywhere to try it out. As it was the school Easter hols we took advantage and took it for a bit of a spin, the long way of course!
April was a bit of a hectic month all in all. My Stepfather was in hospital, so we were taking Mum backwards and forwards. My friends son had an op so was in hospital for a few days, so we were trying to help them out a bit too. I was back to work, and we were in the process of an office move. I'm very glad we had a few Bank Holidays and so a few long weekends, don't know if I'd have been able to take the pace. I have written a lot about work in my blog, so shall leave that one alone, except to say that we may have lost the battle, but we won the war. We have eventually been given an office that the whole team can sit together in, good things come to those that wait!
April also brought a Royal Wedding, the first of this generation. I have always had a bit of a soft spot for the Royal family, I'm very British. As a child I was a huge Diana fan, and had scrapbooks and all sorts of other memorabilia. So I was looking forward to seeing William get married. We sat and watched all of the coverage, from about 9 am, it was a really nice day. Hubbs cooked a big breakfast, and I barely took my eyes off the TV, seriously I didn't move from the spot for about 5 hours. Hubbs was working later, and CC had been invited to her friends for a garden party so I took up an invite from Jelly to a Royal Wedding BBQ. It was a lovely afternoon and evening, and topped off a great day perfectly.
May started off on a nice note, we spent the Bank Holiday Monday in London, soaking up all the pomp and ceremony from the Royal Wedding. It was an amazing sight and atmosphere. A moment in history and it was fantastic to experience it. Made me even more proud to be British! The sun shone all day too. We went into the Abbey and saw the trees and flowers, and Catherine's bouquet. I have always watched the Royal Weddings on TV, and have always wanted to be there in London on the day. This was the next best thing, and I am so glad we went!
May also brought our last Awards night with the gang from work. We had done one every year, for a few years giving everyone silly awards, and as the A Team had wrapped up this was to be the last one. A great night was had by all and some very silly awards were given. Everyone got medals and the ladies had tiaras too. A few people got very drunk, and we added a few more memories that we will look back upon and smile.
The next big event was my friend P's hen night in July. I would miss her wedding due to a holiday, so I was determined to enjoy the hen night. A bunch of us all headed off to Leicester in a huge limo, and checked into a hotel over there. We had a mooch around the town, lined our stomach's with some food and narrowly avoided getting into a fight. Quite a successful afternoon all in all. One old chap stopped the hen and asked if it was her birthday, given that she was wearing badges, a sash, a T-shirt and several other things all proclaiming she was a hen, we all had a little giggle. One chap, possibly the village idiot (if he wasn't there was a village missing one) started swearing at the hen, and seemed a little surprised to get the same response back. He obviously thought he was hard when he retaliated once more, but soon did a runner when he realised there were about 15 of us. Lucky for him he did, we're Cov girls and it would not have been pretty! The evening was spent dancing on the tables (literally) at Bistro Live. We all made it back to the hotel in one piece, there was no fighting, no-one was arrested and no-one ended up in A&E. Add to that the fact that we all made it to breakfast by 9am and we can chalk the entire weekend up as a complete success, and a good time was had by all!
In other news, it was the final Harry Potter film. We did of course watch it on the weekend it was released. I cried for most of the film, my 3D glasses even steamed up at one point. I am gutted that there will be no more to look forward to.
This part of the year brought quite a bit of nice weather, a few BBQ's with friends, a few other get togethers and nice meals, nights out etc. I even wore a dress a few times, I now own two summer dresses, a huge breakthrough in me becoming a girl! So a bit of an improvement on the start of the year really!
